Turin: “La città del gusto”, showcases the wine region of Piedmont
Over 250 producers expected in 4 iconic locations in the city
OFF program of the Wine Salon: from the city center to the suburbs, over 100 events in more than 60 locations.
The first edition of the “Salone del Vino Torino” is born, a tribute to the land and the wine industry of Piedmont, between history and innovation. From Saturday 4th to Monday 6th of March, four symbolic places of Turin, the Museum of the Risorgimento, the Royal Stables, Palazzo Birago & Palazzo Cisterna, will host a new major event that enters the program of the city’s great events. An OFF schedule also develops from the center to the suburbs and involves an entire week dedicated to wine. From February 28th to March 6th, over 100 events spread across more than 60 locations, with restaurants, wine bars, and cultural places of the city alongside producers, featuring dinners, artists, tastings, writers, and plenty of entertainment.
The Turin Wine Salon is born to savor all of Piedmont in a panoramic view that captures the entire territory, from the wines of the Alto Piemonte to those of the Val di Susa, passing through Pinerolo and the hills of Novara. Without neglecting Canavese, reaching the Alto Monferrato, Asti, and the hills of Turin, all the way to Tortona and Ovada. The Cuneese will also be featured, starting from the heart of the Langhe and Roero, up to the territories of the Val Bormida, on the border with Liguria.
This new event opens its doors to Turin residents, tourists, wine enthusiasts, as well as industry experts, distributors, and restaurateurs. The extensive program includes not only an exhibition of wineries but also meetings, tastings, dinners, and masterclasses to discover and deepen knowledge of the best terroirs of the region with its thousands of labels.
“The City of Turin – declares Mayor Stefano Lo Russo – welcomes the new Wine Salon with enthusiasm. Food and wine, with all its excellences, are part of the culture of a region that becomes an attraction and identity for the entire Piedmontese territory and, in particular, Turin. With this first edition, we want to support what is one of the vocations of our territory. We intend to promote Turin in the world, and with the Salon, we will enhance a sector that creates jobs and, at the same time, is part of our identity.”
As explained by Enzo Pompilio D’Alicandro, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce: “As the Chamber of Commerce of Turin, we welcome this new Wine Salon and commit to being its protagonists through various actions: we provide our institutional headquarters, Palazzo Birago, for masterclasses and in-depth meetings on topics such as wine tourism and the impact of climate change on viticulture; we promote the presence of our producers and the Regional Wine Shop of the Province of Turin at the event; finally, we relaunch our Torino DOC selection, which includes 44 companies and 165 Turin wines, with the new guide just published. We will continue throughout the year with our promotion activities of Turin viticulture, within autumnal events such as Portici Divini-Vendemmia Torino and major city events such as the ATP Finals.”
Patrizio Anisio, Director of the Turin Wine Fair, adds: “The Turin Wine Fair is a project we have been working on for years. We started with small events, passing through more structured events throughout the year, and we have now come up with the idea of a great city event. An event that puts our territories at the center and hosts producers, consortia, and operators who, thanks to their work, make our region an excellence at an international level every day. The meeting between food and wine culture and the historic places symbol of our city is a peculiarity that we want to develop and in which we believe a lot. We are happy and proud that the Chamber of Commerce of Turin, the City of Turin, and the Piedmont Region have decided to promote and support our initiative. It will be an intense three-day event, preceded by a Salone OFF that will involve the entire city thanks to more than 40 partners involved.” Organized by KLUG APS together with the Società Orticola del Piemonte and Bonobo Events – with the patronage of the City of Turin, the Piedmont Region, and the Metropolitan City of Turin; supported by the Chamber of Commerce of Turin and with the support of the CRT Foundation and Turismo Torino e Provincia, main partners Gambero Rosso, Go Wine and Fisar Torino – the Turin Wine Fair is produced in collaboration with Torino Wine Week, F.E.A Association, Le Strade di Torino, Confesercenti di Torino e Provincia, Torino DOC, I Cento Torino – EDT Editore, Volontariato Civico, Vendemmia Torino – Grapes in Town e Portici Divini, Enoteca Regionale dei vini della Provincia di Torino, Enoteca Regionale del Monferrato, Enoteca Regionale di Ovada, Enoteca Regionale di Gattinara e delle Terre del Nebbiolo del Nord Piemonte, La Strada del Barolo e i grandi vini di Langa, Strada Reale dei Vini Torinesi, Consorzio Tutela Vini Doc Valsusa, Consorzio Doc Pinerolese, Banca del vino, Alto Piemonte – Gran Monferrato Città Europea del Vino Candidate Lands, Associazione Produttori Vini Biologici Piemonte, Albarossa Club, Associazione Giovani Vignaioli Canavesani, Libreria Bodoni, OFFTOPIC, Cerchio di Gesso – Cubo Teatro, Combo Torino, Eataly, Fondazione Circolo dei lettori, Ozio Intelligente e Paratissima.

TORINO WINE SALON 2023 Four symbolic places in the historic center of Turin become the Great Exhibition Hall of producers, consortia, and regional wine shops, where the general public can meet Piedmontese winemakers and taste their excellences. From Saturday 4 to Monday 6 March, the heart of the event takes place. The general public is immersed in the intoxicating real atmosphere of the Museum of the Risorgimento, in the rooms of Palazzo Carignano which, for the occasion, transform the Sabauda Residence UNESCO World Heritage into an exhibition space that hosts over 60 producers. The Museum thus becomes the home of Gambero Rosso with its selection of Piedmontese producers and a guest area that sees 20 large cellars from all over Italy as protagonists in a calendar of 10 free tastings (subject to availability).
The event continues inside another UNESCO World Heritage Site, today a contemporary space in the heart of the city animated by Paratissima, the Cavallerizza Reale, where more than 100 wineries are expected, in collaboration with Go Wine and Fisar Torino. The Cavallerizza hosts the consortia and regional wine shops from all over Piedmont as well as an area entirely dedicated to natural wines.
The peculiarity of this first edition is the Arena of Talks which, with its rich program of presentations, debates, and wine tastings, brings experts and protagonists of the world of wine to the center of the scene in a dedicated space in the Cavallerizza Reale. In the outdoor area of the Cortile della Corte Mosca, the best street food in the area offers the public their delicacies.
Among the historic buildings involved in the heart of the city, there are also Palazzo Birago & Palazzo Cisterna, united in a single event and with a single thread. Palazzo Birago, the institutional headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce of Turin, becomes the Home of the Great Masterclasses of the Turin Wine Salon. Masters of Ceremonies are Fisar Torino together with the Banca del Vino di Pollenzo, Onav of Turin, La strada del Barolo, and the great wines of Langa. At the center of it all are more than 20 large cellars between horizontal and vertical tastings: the great vintages and the discovery of the most characteristic crus of Piedmont and Italy.
Furthermore, always at Palazzo Birago, a new rich schedule of talks and in-depth analyses by the Chamber of Commerce of Turin in collaboration with the Metropolitan City of Turin, Strada Reale dei Vini torinesi, CIA Agricoltori delle Alpi, Arpa Piemonte, Laboratorio Chimico della Camera di commercio di Torino, AIAB in Piemonte, Enoteca Regionale dei vini della provincia di Torino, animates the day of Monday, March 6, to talk about sustainability, innovation, climate change, wine tourism, and the future of the world of wine.
Palazzo Birago continues this path with a guided tour in the beautiful courtyard of Palazzo Cisterna, to visit its courtly halls and taste, among others, some of the Torino DOC excellences.
On the weekend, another unmissable appointment organized by “Vendemmia a Torino – Grapes in Town” and “Portici Divini”. In the spirit of continuing to promote the Piedmont wine region even in the city, on March 5th, in support of the #domenicalmuseo initiative, a free shuttle bus called “Degustibus” will be available to the public, departing from Piazza Castello (in front of Teatro Regio) and arriving at Villa della Regina. In addition to the UNESCO Heritage Site, the Sabauda Residence since 1997, visitors can also tour the Vigna della Regina, the only urban vineyard in Italy to produce a certified DOC cru wine.
On Saturday, March 4th, and Sunday, March 5th, at the Cavallerizza Reale, Alessandro Burbank, also known as “il Mangiautore,” will animate the days with interviews and discussions with the public and producers.
On Monday, March 6th, the Torino Wine Salon will be entirely dedicated to wine professionals, starting with a free wine tasting, as well as tastings and meetings, in all the venues of the event. This is an opportunity for all operators to taste and get to know, through a single large event – for the first time in Torino – a territory in its entirety, crossing its rich biodiversity and tasting the labels of the entire region. Italian and international wine shops, restaurateurs, and buyers can visit the symbolic places of the Salon and get to know the producers, in a snapshot of the entire Piedmont region.
OFF PROGRAM OF THE TORINO WINE SALON “Enter the largest wine cellar in Italy: Torino” The schedule leaves the historic halls to invade the city with an entire week dedicated to wine. From San Salvario to Vanchiglia, passing through the Quadrilatero to the suburbs, over 100 events take place in more than 60 locations with tastings, dinners, and special events in restaurants, taverns, wine shops, cocktail bars, and cultural places in Turin.
