The Event Returns, Offering a Unique Opportunity for Wine Lovers to Explore Nizza’s Exceptional Viticultural Excellence and Meet the Producers.
NIZZA MONFERRATO – The renowned “Nizza è Barbera” event returns on May 13 and 14, transforming Nizza Monferrato in Piedmont-Italy into a wine capital. This year is exceptional as it features the first tasting of the Nizza docg Riserva from six different production macro-areas. The event, organized by the Nizza Producers Association, will showcase 70 producers and 400 wine labels for tasting.
The event follows the “Nizza DOCG Around the World” project, which aimed to engage industry professionals and raise awareness about Nizza DOCG through a series of masterclasses held across Europe. These masterclasses were far from the ordinary, serving as spaces for discussion, comparison, and learning, where participants actively evaluated wines and shared their thoughts on the future of Nizza DOCG.
Stefano Chiarlo, President of Nizza DOCG, emphasized the dynamic and innovative spirit of the Association, driving a successful promotional tour. He praised “Nizza è Barbera” for its ability to attract thousands of people, especially younger generations, to appreciate Barbera and the beautiful historic center of Nizza Monferrato, along with its typical products.
“‘Nizza è Barbera’ is a successful ‘pop’ event that brings thousands of people, especially young people, closer to Barbera. This event, over the years, has been able to raise the bar of quality with an increasingly professional wine service and, at the same time, without losing its joyful and sharing soul.”
“The Barbera d’Asti and Vini del Monferrato Consortium has always supported ‘Nizza è Barbera’, an event with a long history rooted in and for the territory, with a forward-looking and significant agenda: expressing Monferrato’s identity through its excellent wines,” said Filippo Mobrici, President of the Consortium. “It’s a crucial moment for the area, offering wineries direct contact with the public and a chance for consumers to explore the region firsthand.”
This year, the event promises deeper engagement, involving restaurants with food-wine pairing themes and several seminars. Notably, a masterclass will focus on the first vintage of Nizza Riserva, featuring the participation of six producers from different Nizza DOCG micro-territories. A second seminar will explore the pairing of Barbera d’Asti and Nizza with gorgonzola and cardoon, organized by Astesana Wine Road.
