A Journey Through Italy’s Wine Regions in One of Its Most Beautiful Villages
NEIVE- The third stop of the “Borgo diVino” tour, an itinerant event promoted by the association “I Borghi più Belli d’Italia” (The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy), recently concluded in Neive. The event offered tourists the opportunity to discover quality wines paired with local products, all set within the enchanting backdrop of fifteen of Italy’s most beautiful villages.
The inauguration took place on a late Friday the 12th of May , attended by representatives of the village association, the Mayor of Neive, Annalisa Ghella, Deputy Mayor Francesco Bordino, acting as the coordinator of the villages of Piedmont, and the newly appointed president of the local tourist board, Riccardo Baracco, who cut the tricolor ribbon. The event continued until Sunday evening.
Over the course of three days, visitors were treated to tastings of wines from the local area and other regions of Italy, paired with typical gastronomic products from the Langhe region. Visitors were guided through the event by a series of informative billboards placed along the charming streets of the medieval village, which encapsulated the spirit of the event.
Some signs, divided between Northern Italy, Central Italy, Southern Italy, and the islands, listed the main DOCGs and territories for each region. Other panels provided a concise guide to food and wine pairing, a “sommelier’s vocabulary” with explanations of various adjectives used to describe wine characteristics, a brief description of all the stages of how “grape becomes wine”, some indications on the various aromas of wines, and the different types of glasses to use for tasting different wines.
