Düsseldorf, Germany – The global wine and spirits industry is gearing up for one of the most anticipated events of the year as ProWein, the world’s leading trade fair for wine and spirits, returns to Düsseldorf from March 10th to 12th, 2024. With over 50,000 industry professionals from across the globe expected to attend, ProWein 2024 is set to offer an unparalleled experience, showcasing the largest and most comprehensive selection of wines and spirits from around the world. The event boasts participation from a staggering 5,700 exhibitors representing more than 60 countries, solidifying its reputation as the premier gathering for the wine and spirits industry.

Peter Schmitz, Director of ProWein, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “No other trade fair, either in Europe or overseas, offers such a complete product portfolio. Global market leaders, alongside small, select outfits and emerging newcomers, will again present themselves in Düsseldorf – the capital for wines and spirits.” ProWein 2024 is not just about showcasing existing offerings; it is also a platform for discovering tomorrow’s trends. Trendshows, Special Shows, and Forums will delve into the current industry trends, providing invaluable insights for trade buyers from retail, hospitality, and food service.

ProWein’s journey over the last three decades is a testament to its success. It began in 1994 with 321 exhibitors on 2,300 square meters in just under two exhibition halls and attracted 1,517 visitors. Fast forward to 2024, and ProWein is set to occupy a sprawling 71,000 square meters across 13 halls, underlining its enduring relevance in the market.

Monika Reule, Managing Director of the German Wine Institute (DWI), acknowledges ProWein’s significance, stating, “We are proud and happy that ProWein has developed into the most relevant international specialist wine trade fair, thereby making the wine-growing country Germany the center of the international wine-experts’ universe for three days every year. Even 30 years on, ProWein still succeeds in thrilling wine experts with riveting new topics.”

One of the keys to ProWein’s ongoing success is its forward-thinking approach and its ability to adapt to market trends. In 2023, ProWein was the first European trade fair to feature a dedicated stage for the “no-and-low” trend in the beverage industry. Building on this, ProWein 2024 introduces “ProWein Zero,” a special area in Hall 1 that will focus on “no-and-low” products, complemented by a tasting zone organized by Meininger publishers.

In addition to the “no-and-low” trend, ProWein 2024 will feature a range of industry and trending themes:

  1. “Same but Different” Trendshow: This show, dedicated to the hip food service and bar community, will showcase Craft Spirits, Craft Beer, and Cider from 120 international exhibitors in Hall 7.
  2. ProSpirits: Hall 5 will become the new home for over 300 international spirits suppliers, reflecting the growing interest in spirits within the industry.
  3. Lounge Urban Gastronomy: Catering to the young urban community, this lounge in Hall 4 will offer a program of current themes curated by Toni Askitis, a gastronome and wine sommelier.
  4. Packaging Alternatives: ProWein 2024 will address the pressing issue of packaging alternatives for glass bottles, such as bag-in-box, stainless-steel kegs, recyclable aluminum cans, and PET bottles. This topic will be explored in the special show “Packaging & Design” in Hall 9 and at various exhibitor stands.
  5. Champagne Lounge: Hall 9 will host the Champagne Lounge, showcasing a representative and comprehensive range of Champagnes at ProWein 2024.
  6. Organic World: With around 300 international exhibitors, organic wines will take center stage in Hall 4, including a special show dedicated to this theme.

As the wine and spirits world eagerly awaits ProWein 2024, it is clear that this iconic event continues to evolve, setting the bar for industry excellence and innovation. With its comprehensive lineup of exhibitors and cutting-edge themes, ProWein 2024 is poised to be a must-attend event for anyone passionate about the world of wine and spirits.
