Hollywood star embraces Spanish life with a stunning new estate and personal wine sanctuary
MADRID – Richard Gere has recently acquired a luxurious mansion in Alcobendas, near Madrid, for €11 million. Moving from Connecticut, the Hollywood actor, known for his roles in Pretty Woman and An Officer and a Gentleman, is excited about his new life in Spain with his Spanish wife, Alejandra Silva, and their two children.Gere, a long-time wine enthusiast, has previously launched his own Tuscan wine, a Brunello produced with Tenuta San Filippo di Montalcino, Italy. His new home, equipped with a private wine cellar, aligns well with his passion for fine wines. Gere once mentioned his fondness for “big oaky Chardonnay” and has been an advocate for affordable yet quality wines, often advising that a great bottle doesn’t need to cost more than $85.
While his new Spanish residence places him close to several notable wine regions, including the DO Madrid subzones producing Tempranillo and Garnacha wines, Gere’s preference for Italian wines has been well-documented. With his transition to life in Spain, he is likely to explore the country’s rich vinous offerings, further deepening his wine journey in this renowned wine-producing nation.
