SYDNEY – Antinori has been declared The World’s Most Admired Wine Brand 2023, marking the first time an Italian winery has topped the list in history.

Now in its 13th edition, The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands remains the most authoritative list of esteemed wineries worldwide. Voted on by an Academy of top Masters of Wine, sommeliers, wine buyers, journalists, and other industry experts from six continents, the list features 50 distinguished wineries.

Antinori’s high quality and consistency won over the Academy, earning it the Most Admired Wine Brand in Europe award as well.

Argentina’s Catena Zapata, the 2020 winner, secured the runner-up position and the Most Admired Wine Brand in South America award, while the long-standing contender Penfolds ranked third. The Australian brand retained its title as the Most Admired Wine Brand in Australasia.

Europe maintained its status as the center of admired wine brands in 2023, with 32 spots on the list, led by France, which accounted for over a quarter of the overall ranking. Spain performed exceptionally well, placing eight brands on the list—one more than Italy.

In 2023, there were no new additions to the list. However, France’s Chateau D’Yquem received the Highest Climber award. Ridge from the US managed to secure a spot in the top 10 and also claimed the Most Admired Wine Brand in North America title. One remaining special award, the Most Admired Wine Brand in Africa & Middle East, was presented to South Africa’s KWV.
