VERONA – One is the Italian sailing ship known to all navies as “the most beautiful ship in the world,” the other is the international event of reference for Italian wines. Amerigo Vespucci and Vinitaly will set sail together from July to promote the excellence of Made in Italy, with a worldwide tour that will stop in major cities on all continents.
This morning, Defense Minister Guido Crosetto made the announcement during his visit to the 55th edition of Vinitaly, which is taking place until tomorrow at the Verona Fair.
“The companies have asked us to help carry the Italian image abroad,” said the minister, “and now the government will do so also through the Ministry of Defense. Starting July 1st, for two years, Amerigo Vespucci will be engaged in a training campaign that will go around the world, with stops on every continent where the best of Made in Italy will also be showcased. In this project, Veronafiere, with Vinitaly, will accompany us on the most famous training ship of the Italian Navy, helping to promote the excellence of the nation beyond our borders.”
Vinitaly brings together more than 4,000 wine companies in Verona these days, representing a sector in Italy that generates over 31 billion euros in revenue, is the leading contributor to the national trade balance, and in 2022 totaled nearly 8 billion in exports.
“For Vinitaly,” commented Veronafiere President Federico Bricolo, “it is a great honor to board the Vespucci and contribute with our exhibition brand to enhance and exalt wine, a true flagship product of Italy. This new initiative strengthens our plan to develop a permanent and coordinated promotional platform with all institutional partners, capable of attracting, on one hand, market investments in Italian products and, on the other, boosting incoming tourism to the country and its regions.”
